This year, Shippen will be one of a number of historic sites in Warren County that will be participating in the Explore Warren History Trail.

The museum will be open on Sun., Nov. 5. Tours of the main floor will begin at 10 a.m. and the last tour of the day begins at 3:30 p.m.

The 27th NJ Reg't (Bailey's Boys) will join us on the east side of the building.
During the Civil War, the 27th N.J. Infantry Regiment served a nine-month enlistment in the Union Army. 

What was life like for a soldier on campaign?
What necessities did they carry?
What roles did the men play? (Not everyone was a soldier!)

Did you know that some of our Henry-Scranton family members served in the Civil War? Where did their regiments fight? Did they survive the war? There were 80,000 NJ men who fought, including 3000 black soldiers, and 6400 who died in the Civil War. 

From 12-4 p.m., the Colonial United Methodist Church (stone church) in Oxford, which is located on the corner of Washington & Belvidere Aves., between the Manor and Furnace. The building was formerly the grist mill associated with both sites, rebuilt in the 1800s and converted to the current church in 1913. It will be open for tours and light snacks as well. If you have not been to see the church, it is a real treat.

Event is free to the public. Our Friends of Shippen is a volunteer group that accepts donations from our visitors at the end of the tours. All donated monies are used to purchase things for the museum.
